The first style of fitness that I gravitated quickly toward when I became a personal trainer at Equinox was Circuit training. This is not only important for heart health, blood circulation, and increased energy levels, but it's also really FUN!
There are many tools used such as: Cable machines, Kettlebells, ViPR, TRX, Rowing Ergometers, Versaclimber, and Sled Prowlers. These help achieve compound movements, while increasing heart rate levels.
Functional training attempts to adapt or develop exercises which allow clients to perform the activities of daily life more easily and without injuries.
An example of this style would be training my pregnant clients to prepare them for typical movements they will perform with their baby.
Talk about a training style where one simply FEELS better when they lift on a consistent basis. Feeling stronger and looking sexier helps boost one's self esteem!
My clients focus on isolated movements early in a training program, then graduate to integrated, compound movements - which is synonymous to everyday mobility.
Any fitness program will not see it's full potential without the consumption of quality, nutritious food.
The most logical balance of macro-nutrient intake is 40% Carbohydrates, 30% Proteins and 30% Fats. However, depending on the goals, preferences and genetic makeup of my clients, this balance will fluctuate. I offer nutritional advice to help clients learn what makes their bodies perform at their best levels.
There are deep rooted reasons why managing stress is extremely important to me. In 2003, my Dad, whom I loved very much, took his life. Major stress late in his life led to severe depression, and ultimately to his death.
I became involved with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention in San Francisco, and am a big advocate of mental balance and open communication.
I want to help clients with their stressful problems in life, both in fitness and in other areas. By listening, even offering advice during rest periods of sets, I can help clients with stress reduction (not to mention the awesome endorphin rush from exercise!).
I also offer a mixture of yoga exercises into my fitness routines.
Planning Fitness Program for Clients is important for the following reasons:
- Achieves Fitness Goals
- Instructs Proper Exercise Form
- Teaches Progressions of Exercise
- Creates New Exercises Which Keeps Fitness Fun
- Helps Organize and Customize Exercises for the Client
